Back in Stock and Shipping.  Aftermarket Unimog 404 Coolant Temp Conversion Kit.  This VDO 12/24 Gauge and Sending unit is a direct replacement for the expensive 0015424705 CAPILARY TUBE original gauge.  Conversion uses a more common and less failure prone sending unit that screws into the cylinder head. Gone are the days of kinking or breaking the fragile capillary tube on the original gauge. Conversion Kit includes the following:

  • VDO 12/24 Gauge, and Bulb

  • VDO Gauge Reducer Ring

  • VDO Temp Sender

  • Thermal Seal Heat Shrink Ring Terminals

  • Assorted Installation Hardware and Installation Instructions

Installation will require basic hand and electrical tools, heat gun/lighter (for heat shrink terminals) and 16-18 Gauge Wire - approx. 60"

Items you will Need

  • Wire Cutter and Crimper
  • Assorted Hand Tools
  • Heat Gun (for shrink terminals)
  • 16 Gauge Wire ��������� Color of your choice ��������� 60���������

 

Installation

1.      Remove old sender and gauge.
2.      Install new sender in engine block.  Be sure new sender has a copper crush washer.  Do not overtighten, just ���������snug.���������  If done quickly this can be done with minimal loss of coolant.
3.      Install Gauge into dash using Reducer Ring.  (Do not secure until wiring connections have been made.)
4.      Run 16 Gauge wire from sender to (S) on back of Gauge with supplied ring terminals.
5.      Attach ring terminal to input power from previous gauge onto (+) on back of new gauge.
6.      Using the supplied terminals run a ground wire (Brown) from the Center (-) terminal on the gauge to a solid ground under the dash.  Make sure you have a strong ground.
7.      Attach Spade Terminal to Light Bulb wire from old gauge, slide onto either side of new bulb holder.
8.      Run a ground wire using supplied terminals from 1 side of bulb holder to ground.
9.      Top up coolant and check for leaks.  Bring truck up to operating temperature to validate gauge.

    A great little kit, gauge blends in nicely, the only way to go if the original system has failed.
