Releaves pressure that builds up in the differential. This was a retrofit items on some of the Swiss Pinzgauer fleet.

Diff Vent Kits
I purchased 3 of these kits for my 712M, installed them due to pressure build up causing oil to push past seal on transfer case after extended HWY driving, great product, no problems since instaling. Very easy fix.
